FAQs

In an effort to provide additional information and resources to those interested in the City's Commercial Cannabis Program, the CCP staff offer the following answers to frequently asked questions:

  1. Can the City verify if a property is in the right zone for Commercial Cannabis activities.
No. The City will only discuss property locations with those Active Selected Applicants currently involved in Development Agreement negotiations with the City. If you are a property owner, prospective applicant, real estate professional, or other interested party, you may review the City's Commercial Cannabis Ordinance (Ordinance 700) for information regarding the allowable activities and applicable sensitive use setbacks. Questions regarding future development, zoning or other property specific questions will not be answered by CCP staff at this time, unless, as previously stated above, the questions originate from an Active Selected Applicant. There are no "pre-approved sites" and also no map of "approved zones."

  2. When will the City accept new applications for Commercial Cannabis activities?
The City is not accepting new applications and does not foresee accepting any new applications at this time. If, in the future, the City re-opens the application process, information regarding such will be made available on this page of the City's website. Interested parties may check the City's website periodically for updates, but CCP Staff is unable to address any questions regarding new applications.

  3. Where can I find out more information about the City's CCP program?
The City's Cannabis Information page is a great resource for interested parties seeking information regarding the City's CCP program. There, you will find a copy of the City's Commercial Cannabis Ordinance (Ordinance 700), FAQ Fact Sheet, and other useful information.

As a reminder, all communication with CCP Staff should be initiated via the CCP email address and only by Active Selective Applicants, until further notice. Please continue to use the following email address: ccp@ci.commerce.ca.us. To avoid miscommunication, misinformation, non-City-official responses, and/or not having your questions and inquiries addressed or answered, Active Selected Applicants are once again directed to submit all questions and inquiries in writing to this email address. Please be sure to include your applicant ID number (18-0XX) and business entity name in the subject line of correspondence.
