The overall purpose of the Commission on Disabilities Access and Opportunity is to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council regarding concerns or issues affecting people with special needs, including those with physical and mental disabilities; act on its own initiative to make recommendations on programs and services designed to help people with special needs lead a full and healthy life, promote greater awareness of the changing life patterns, opportunities, and responsibilities of persons with access and functional needs, and promote the total integration of persons with special needs into all aspects of community life.
The Commission on Disabilities Access and Opportunity meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 5655 Jillson Street.
