Public Safety Division
The Public Safety Division, via Community Safety Officers (CSO), augments the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department services. CSOs patrol the City, direct traffic, enforce parking, report suspicious circumstances, and crimes in progress, conduct security evaluations at homes and businesses, provide vacation watch for residents, and assist stranded motorists and take criminal reports.
Sheriff
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department provides police services for the City on contract basis.

Fire Prevention
Fire Prevention Services are provided by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The services offered by the County include firefighting, paramedic and first aid treatment, hazardous material response and emergency preparedness coordination.
There are three stations serving City of Commerce residents and businesses:
- Station 22 - 928 South Gerhart St, Commerce
- Station 27 - 6031 Rickenbacker Rd., Commerce
- Station 50 - 2327 South Saybrook Ave., Commerce

Emergency Preparedness Division
The Emergency Preparedness Division is responsible for emergency preparedness, incident/disaster communication and training for the Urban Search and Rescue team and staff.
