Credit Card Solicitations

Approximately 3 billion credit card solicitations are mailed each year. Federal law allows consumers to remove their names from the lists that credit bureaus provide to credit card issuers. To reduce credit offers from any of the 4 major credit reporting companies (Equifax Inc., Experian, Innovis Consumer Assistance or Trans Union):

Call 1-888-5OPT-OUT (888-567-8688) or visit Opt Out Pre screen to remove your name from their mailing lists.

Advertising Mail

The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) is the largest trade association in the direct marketing field with more than 3,600 member companies. Their Mail Preference Service (MPS) provides consumers with a way to opt out of receiving most personally addressed national advertising mail.

The DMA only complies with signed requests sent by mail.

Fill out the Registration Form for Mailing Preferences, and send to:

DMAChoice
Direct Marketing Association
PO Box 643
Carmel, NY 10512

A $1.00 payment must be sent along with the registration form.

Allow 60 - 90 days after registration to begin receiving less mail.

Junk Phone Calls

Stop receiving telemarketing sales calls by adding your name to the Federal Trade Commission's Do Not Call Registry.  Sign up online at Do Not Call or call (888) 382-1222 from the phone number you wish to register.

Junk E-Mail

The e-Mail Preference Service (e-MPS) is a consumer service sponsored by the DMA. The DMA does not provide marketers with consumer e-mail lists. The e-MPS is available to companies for the sole purpose of removing your e-mail address from their lists.

Register at Getting Off Commercial Email Lists.
