Mayor John Soria was elected to his current term on the Commerce City Council on June 6, 2017. Born and raised in the City of Commerce, he is a successful product of the programs and services provided by the City. With strong generational roots, Mayor Soria attributes his successes to his mother, grandparents, and committed city staff.
Mayor Soria is a graduate of St. Paul High School and Calvary Chapel Bible College La Mirada. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management at the University of La Verne to expand his knowledge and strengthen his leadership skills.
Mayor Soria has over 20 years of experience as a law enforcement professional with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Mayor Soria has previously served the City as a commissioner on the Commerce Public Safety and Community Services Commission and as a member of the Measure AA Advisory Committee. Mayor Soria is also a member of the United Family of Bristow and the Professional Peace Officers Association.
Mayor Soria married his soulmate, Miriam, in 2018 and they are proud parents of a blessed and blended family.
